most people who have any concept of hygiene would not wear shoes in the house. It kind of disgusts me when I see people with outside shoes in the house, on sofas, beds and bathrooms.

If you mean it from a safety aspect, then theres no slip hazard, and feet are no more liekly to get burned than any other part of your body?!
