Little Malaysia – Melbourne Australia
Little Malaysia 16 – 20 Liverpool Street Melbourne Victoria Australia – Licenced restaurant (29/07/2008)
With the weather dipping into the low Celsius, my mind started to wander to warmer climates, and well if you are like me and have other commitments then you need to scratch that itch without airlines or using holiday time. The next best thing is to call into an authentic Malaysian restaurant and my travels found Little Malaysia. The cuisine is authentic and the staff genuienly friendly. They treat you like a king or queen as you like.
We decided on curries with a few light starters, the starters consisted of spring rolls and chicken satay stick. The spring rolls where a little plain and doughy but the chicken satay stick redeemed them. The mains we all went for roti breads and curries, some tried the roti talour and lamb or chicken curry. If you are not familiar with the talour its a roti bread filled with egg and onions this is quite filling and the curry was both sweet and spicy as I would expect of a Malaysian brown curry.
1. The meal:
The meal was quick tasty and a good portion for lunch, the presentation was consistent and the flavours individual and blended well together. All in all fantastic warm meal for winter. Although I did order my favourite dessert Iced Kachang, which left my dinning partners laughing at me eating an iced desert in winter but it’s just so refreshing.
Rating: 6.5/10
2. Service Speed:
Service was both friendly and speedy. The entire meal process took a little over 30 minutes for lunch from sit down to payment you could stretch it out to the full hour if you wished.
Rating: 7/10
3. Food Quality:
The food was of fantastic standard and the quality appeared to be maintained with ease, the meals are a good serving for either the picky eater or those who like myself required a little more substantial meal which I add left us satisfied.
Rating: 9/10
4. Ambience:
A very modern and very friendly eating area, very clean and welcoming, it feels comfortable and not snobby as many of the eateries in this part of town tend to do.
Rating: 7.5/10
5. Value for Money:
This is for those seeking both good quality meal and great service this has a well priced menu to suit your needs, I would say that for the price we had a meal that would hard to beat in the city (Melbourne). Overall we thought it was good value for money.
