Do you think macaroni and cheese is the appropriate food to donate during holiday food drives?
i would have to say no! given the fact being poor my self we eat enough of it all year long.just my biggest pet peeve people whom donate are not putting much thought of it being the holiday season..enough said.
Mac & Cheese is poor food. It's yummy sometimes, but it is what it is. I'd say there's plenty of stuff like Mac&Cheese that might make a holiday meal more satisfying – green bean casserole (yum), rice a roni, uncle ben's, all that kind of stuff.

i agree. i've been there b4. though i am thankful for food banks and stuff ours gave us marshmallows for a sweetening agent. 1 lb of sugar is very inexpensive and last quite a while.

I would go to a World Market/Cost Plus store.
They have exotic dry foods, like Spicy Chips,
Vegetable chips (I personally hate these.)
African coffees, French coffees, Coin candy (Yayy!)
Salsa, all sorts of good stuff :3

People give Mac and Cheese because that's what's on the list at St. Vincent de Paul where I donate, but I try to add in something special like cookies! Big Lots has discounted food by the way. See website below.

You know, people who don't have much to eat or anything at all, would be absolutley happy with whatever is donated. Its food to fill their hungry bellies, if you were starving or hungry would you really complain? Be happy for what is given. So yes, it'd be fine. I dont think Mac & cheese is anyones favorite choice, but hey.
