Korean Convenience Store Raid Part 1: Bagged Snacks

Published by at 11:10 pm under Quick convenient food

We went to the local GS25 and grabbed all the new stuff we could find, bought it all, ate and drank it, then recorded our reactions. Here’s the result: a four-part miniseries on Korean Convenience Store food. The song at the intro is:
Bike (Vocal. Westwind) by ????.

Please note: we have opinions! If we don’t like the food it does not mean that we are disrespecting Korea (as some people have told us before). We have a right to say whether we like something or not!

    That’s just …
That’s just ridiculous, how can it be disgraceful to say that you don’t like certain foods or stuff. You guys make great entertaining videos and if they can’t understand it, well too bad for them.

I really agree with this. From what I see you talk good things about Korea a lot yet people say you disrespect them? That really is stupid.

I really do enjoy your videos. I admit sometimes the humour is a bit lost on me but for the most part they are great. Keep them coming. =D

I have to say my first reaction when you said roasted quid was the opposite of being disgusted; it sounds awesome. I really want to try some. Love foreign food.

    Well, some people …
Well, some people will be ed that you *dare* say anything negative about their favorite subjects, but those people are probably not your target audience anyway. Most of us find what you do very entertaining and, yes, respectful as well. Keep up to good work!

    Hey Simon and …
Hey Simon and Martina … I find your comments are fair and entertaining … you guys certainly have every right to like or dislike something from Korea b/c I believe you are enjoying your time and the bottomline is … for someone to appreciate gochujang (red bean paste) you the man or lady 😉 !! … know this … for any sensible out there, they appreciate the fact that you guys are simply auditioning for Iron Chef — Korean-American here

    I totally …
I totally understand. I guess I’m just an idealist that wishes we could live in a world where people didn’t have to be downbraided for having an opinion.

  20. simonandmartinaon 23 Feb 2009 at 11:10 pm

We have to put in …
We have to put in the disclaimers because there are a lot of people who leave us nasty comments. If we ever say anything not-positive about something Korean, somebody will tell us how disgraceful and disrespectful we dirty foreigners are, how we should be deported, and how our lives are worthless.

    We’re just covering our es.

  21. swaggerofthedaggeron 23 Feb 2009 at 11:10 pm

    Yay, a four-part …
Yay, a four-part series! & It’s pretty sad you have to put a disclaimer about opinions on your videos now. I can understand why but I wish you didn’t feel you have to. :[ But this video is great. I’m convinced to try dried squid (even though all attempts to make me like calamari have failed…)

Jo Ri Pong is really good and also makes an excellent cereal, albeit they get mushy fast.

Go Rae Bab(whale food) is a great snack as well, though they have tons of crazy flavors now I think.
